"Welcome to the first official Black Hoe Recordings Artists’ Q&A. We are here today with Snyde and KRIEG to get a general understanding of these two madly crazed producers and their 2-track EP Spiritual Hell on Black Hoe Recordings.”
How old are you and where are you from and what should we know about you?
SNYDE: ”I am 35 years old and come from South Wales, UK. You should know that Im not all there.”
KRIEG: ”I am 24 years old and come from Russia, although I prefer to say that I come from the Valley of Death, and I honestly just love strange sounds.”
At what point in your life did the production of music really interest you and how did you start?
SNYDE: ”Well I got into Drum & Bass at 18 and started to then become fascinated. I was always musical and played guitar but this was something else. But firstly I wanted to learn to mix. Also I was too heavily into raving to give production the dedication it deserves. So I picked up a few things over the years messing around. Then four years ago, I chilled my party ways and took to production. FL and I have been pretty attached since!! The more you learn you more you want to learn.”
KRIEG: ”Around 2008 I started messing with production on the computer, but was going through a weird stage in my life so I never really showed anyone my sounds for I deemed them crappy, but around 2010 I started taking production more seriously and became more confident with my sounds and production, and now that its 2014 I feel as if this is the real beginning for me.”
How are you feeling this year in regards to your career as a producer?
SNYDE: ”Pretty excited!!!! KRIEG’s and Is sound has started to come together and others seem to like our messed up style. Becoming part of the Black Hoe label has given me drive like never before. With real hard graft, I hope we can produce some great tracks. I would also love to start gigging out this year, playing Europe. Seeing others enjoying our sounds!! So I am going to kick the shit out of it this year and see where it takes us! We will also be introducing our new project as Misophonia soon.”
KRIEG: ”Well I really like how driven and motivated we both are for this year; were giving this year 200% and are not going to be stopped. We will have a release on Black Hoe Recordings and be working with a lot of different and interesting artists.”
What would you say inspired the Misophonia project?
SNYDE: ”I believe it was a brainchild of KRIEG’s. We are pretty much known as a duo and wanted to create a new entity with it. We are both psychologists and loved what Misophonia meant as it explains our style very well. So we thought, Lets do it!!!! A start of a new chapter for us.
KRIEG: ”I am inspired by an array of things, more so often things that take you out your normal state, whether it is people, emotions, and or thoughts.”
What sort of plans does Misophonia have in stock for us this year?
SNYDE: ”Well we hope to debut Misophonia with an EP on Black Hoe later this year, something dark, nasty and a reflection of our diversity in our musical tastes. After this, who knows? I guess it all depends if the heads out there like what develops from our warped little minds”
KRIEG: ”delve into our own style; try to do something new and oh my god try to reinvent the wheel!!”
SNYDE: ”yes, we don’t want to be a carbon copy of anyone but wish to create something different”
Is there any other labels in which you have had releases on and or possible forthcoming releases on?
SNYDE: ”Yeah we have had releases on Infectech, Suspect Device, Techsys, Battle Audio, Section 8 and also many other labels as solo artists. There are many other labels we are in the talks with but nothing solid as yet. Apart from Infectech, Noisj, Battle Audio. Also as solo artists we have releases coming on Warrior Drum, Hormonal Vibrations, Nocid….to name a few. But I believe our main focus right now is Black Hoe Recordings.”
KRIEG: ”Yea right now were waiting on Infectech and as a solo artist Im awaiting on the new label Warrior Drum along with my remix of ERRe+Hardlogik vs Syrinx - D.I.E which I did with Inerpois, this remix will be released through Noisj.”
Would you say that working with all these different labels motivates you all the more?
SNYDE: ”oh yes, when certain labels like your tunes enough to be part of their label it is the best compliment and driving force, it makes you think… Maybe the shit I make isn’t actually that bad? and it inspires you to improve.
Like I had previously said, being released on Black Hoe has been the greatest compliment so far, as I have been a fan of the label for a long time, it was like, wow, this feels good ha. KRIEG is also a big driving force as he does most of the leg work and contacts the labels etc”
KRIEG: ”It motivates me when someone says my track is bullshit, it then makes me want to destroy the world and show everyone wrong.”
Outside of the studio what is it that you enjoy doing with your free time?
SNYDE: ”Apart from the studio there isn’t much free time. We both have full time jobs so any spare time is taken up with music; mixing, producing, listening. Music is our free time. Oh and watching twisted horror movies and some playtime when I can. Everyone needs a good sweaty all-nighter now and again, and I am talking about raving.”
KRIEG: ”In my free time I like to think, and that is something I wish for everyone to do.”
That sounds like quite the busy lifestyle, but it just proves how determined the both of you really are. Do either of you have anyone or anything in mind you can thank when it comes to your success?
SNYDE: ”KRIEG!!!!!!! Along with the love of my life…..Drum &Bass, which I find the biggest inspiration and motivation there is along with all the people who listen to and enjoy our music.”
KRIEG: ”Id like to thank SNYDE, my parents, and did I mention SNYDE?”
